"வாழ்க்கையின் உண்மையான நோக்கம் செல்வம், அதிகாரம் அல்லது பதவியால் அளவிடப்படுவதில்லை. நாம் அன்புடனும் கருணையுடனும் எத்தனை பேரின் வாழ்க்கையைத் தொட்டிருக்கிறோம் என்பதில்தான் அதன் மதிப்பு உள்ளது. என்று நான் நம்புகிறேன். என் வாழ்க்கையில் நான் சந்தித்த ஒவ்வொரு சவாலும், நேர்மையுடனும், பணிவுடனும், அர்ப்பணிப்புடனும் சமூகத்திற்கு சேவை செய்யும் என் உறுதியை மேலும் வலுப்படுத்தியுள்ளது. பொதுச் சேவை,இயற்கை வேளாண்மை,வேலைவாய்ப்புகளை, உருவாக்குதல் அல்லது மனிதநேயப் பணிகள் என எந்தத் துறையாக இருந்தாலும், தேவையுடைய மக்களின் வாழ்க்கையை உயர்த்துவதே என் வாழ்நாள் இலக்காக இருந்து வருகிறது. என்னை நாடி வரும் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் என் குடும்ப உறுப்பினராகவே கருதுகிறேன். என் இல்லத்தை விட்டு யாரும் நம்பிக்கையின்றி,உதவியின்றி அல்லது உணவருந்தாமல் திரும்பிச் செல்லக் கூடாது என்பதே என் எண்ணம். என் பயணம் தனிப்பட்ட வெற்றிக்காக அல்ல; வாய்ப்புகளை உருவாக்கவும், பிறருக்கு ஊக்கமளிக்கவும், தன்னலமற்ற சேவையின் அழியாத பாரம்பரியத்தை உருவாக்கவும் என்பதற்காகவே. எனக்கு வலிமை இருக்கும் வரையிலும், மக்களின் நலனுக்காக இடைவிடாது உழைத்துக் கொண்டே இருப்பேன். ஏனெனில் மனிதகுலத்திற்கு சேவை செய்வதே மிக உயர்ந்த பெருமையும், என் வாழ்க்கையின் உயரிய நோக்கமும் ஆகும்."
