PLA.Jaganath Misra – A Life Dedicated to Public Service
PLA.Jaganath Misra is a compassionate and dedicated public servant from N.T. Patti village in Cumbum, Theni District, Tamil Nadu. He was born on 25 December 1976 to Azhagarsamy Pulavar and Muthu Mariammal as their youngest son.
From a very young age, he faced many hardships in life. While continuing his education, he worked alongside his father to support the family's livelihood. Through determination and perseverance, he successfully completed his college education.
In 1993, he joined the Indian National Congress and served as the State Secretary of the Student Congress. In 1998, he served as the State Secretary of the Youth Congress. In 2006, he was introduced as the National Progressive Dravidian Kazhagam (DMDK) candidate for the Cumbum Assembly Constituency.
In 2011, he served as an authorized campaign representative of the AIADMK. Under the leadership of the late Chief Minister Selvi J. Jayalalithaa, he played a key role in election campaigns for the AIADMK on seven occasions, covering Assembly, Parliamentary, and Local Body elections, contributing to several electoral victories.
In 2026, recognizing his remarkable social service and the goodwill he had earned among the people, he was nominated as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate for the Cumbum Assembly Constituency and was elected as its Member of the Legislative Assembly.
Since childhood, he has had a deep passion for agriculture and livestock. He continues to practice natural farming while promoting sustainable agricultural methods.
He is also the founder of Bala Muthazhagu Group of Companies, under which he has established several business ventures. Through these enterprises, he has created employment opportunities for numerous deserving men and women from economically weaker sections, enabling them to build stable and dignified lives.
His contributions have earned him numerous awards and recognitions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he rendered exceptional humanitarian service. Even after he and his family were infected with COVID-19 twice, he never interrupted his service to society. He has contributed over ₹20 crore towards COVID-19 relief, including vaccination support, food, clothing, shelter, and other essential assistance for the needy. He continues to serve people through various welfare initiatives.
In recognition of his outstanding humanitarian work, he was honored with the "Best Humanitarian" Award by the London Parliament in 2006.
Even today, he dedicates nearly 18 hours every day to public service, working tirelessly for the welfare of society.
Standing firmly beside him throughout this journey is his wife, Mrs. Parameswari, whose constant support has been invaluable. They are blessed with one son and one daughter.
His home has become a symbol of generosity and compassion. Every day, at least 100 people are served meals, and it is said that no one who visits his home leaves without being offered food.
Through his honesty, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to the upliftment of society, PLA.Jaganath Misra has earned the respect and admiration of countless people. He is widely regarded as a kind-hearted soul, a true humanitarian, and an inspiring leader whose life is devoted to serving others.
